In the intimacy of the upper room Jesus shares acts and words of encouragement with his friends. John was right next to Jesus, so close he could lean back against him and hear the heartbeat of God. He clearly reports his experience. Jesus in the upper room points the way for his disciples. John saw and heard this challenge from Jesus: Be humble, love well, stay connected, be faithful.
