Big Idea of the Series: Jesus was often intentionally paradoxical. He said and taught things that seemed contradictory or absurd, but expressed profound truth. Paradoxical statements are puzzlers. They often left even his closest associates scratching their heads and asking, “What’s that all about?”
Why is there paradox in the Bible? To help us be honest about the fact that we don’t get it! Jesus used paradoxical teaching to help people see messy, familiar things (life) and challenging, mysterious things (God) from a fresh perspective. Now it’s our turn to wrestle with paradox. Paradox brings us face to face with the fact that you can’t know all the answers about life, but you can know the One who created it!
